It wasn’t really a secret, but I’m proud to announce I’ve made the decision to be a candidate for councillor in the Township of Langley. The Oct. 15 election date is fast approaching.
It’s going to be a crowded ballot. But even though there are already a lot of engaged, quality candidates I know that I’d be an integral member of the Township’s council, bringing a unique perspective.
Over the past four years the outgoing council has made many lofty promises with no real plan how to pay for them. And even now some candidates are making grandiose guarantees. It’s time we focused on the core roles of a municipal government: creating effective roads, providing quality drinking water, and ensuring communities are safe.
Did you know that the voter turnout rate for the most recent municipal election was just 30%? As a voter in your municipality, are you comfortable with 30% of the residents dictating who is supposed to serve 100% of our community?
I’ll be providing more of my platform over the few weeks.
Priority number one: Remove any and all remaining Covid-19 policies, mandates, and bylaws within the municipal jurisdiction.
Thanks for all your support, both past and future.
